Since proper alignment is the answer, what is necessary to assure proper installation and alignment of your machinery?
|
The general alignment condition of web machinery, and its ability to maintain precise alignment, starts at the foundation. Proper footings, sole plates, anchoring and grouting are key factors to consider. Machinery units and framework must be installed level, plumb and accurately positioned in order for web transfer rolls to be precisely aligned. For optimum operation, all equipment that contacts the web throughout its travel must be parallel, level and centered on a common machine centerline.
Precision alignment of web equipment is accomplished at installation or during maintenance/repair through the use of optical tooling instruments by trained professionals. Precision optical instruments such as theodolites, optical squares and tilling levels are used in conjunction with a variety of mechanical measuring devices, heavy duty stands and custom-made jigs and fixtures. These instruments enable accurate measurement in the field while maintaining flatness, straightness and
square ness with precise accuracies over long distances.
Optical tooling is far superior in terms of accuracy, speed and job site adaptability to out-dated methods of machinery alignment such as tram rods, plumb bobs and music wire.

How will precision alignment impact your business?
|
Optical alignment at installation speeds up the process of getting equipment up and running and insures infield quality control for machinery setting. Problems that cause costly downtime after start-up are eliminated. In addition, optical alignment of existing machinery improves overall
run ability and performance, increases production and improves product quality which, in turn, helps to satisfy your customers with quality products and timely deliveries.
|
Increases:
Productivity
Run ability
Felt and wire life
Life of machinery parts and roll coverings
Product quality
Customer satisfaction |
Decreases:
Web breakage
Material waste
Maintenance
Vibration
Bearing and coupling failure
Downtime |
|
|
The outcome: your investment in properly aligning your machinery will increase your profits.
